This Christmas, for the first time since long, the people and visitors of Gent will once again be able to enjoy a magical winter fest right in the heart of this historical city.
Different from previous years, when several events were dotted all over the city centre, this year the wonderland will be located in one area, namely the Korenmarkt, the E. Braun square and the St Bavo square. Christmas charm, a cosy feel and atmosphere, authenticity, the smell of pine and wood... all to guarantee a fun and festive experience!
You are welcome from Friday evening, December 6th.
The sensational City Pavilion on the Emiel Braun square will be the setting for a sizeable ice rink spanning over 700 square meters.
The largest part of it will be right underneath the City Pavilion’s roof, retaining an open air part of 300 square meters.
We are on track for the opening of the ice rink on Friday December 6th 18 hours. Are you also looking forward as much as these two kids?
The 50 meter iceskating track, unique in Belgium, meanders through a thick and fairy-tale-like forest.
Just for a minute, you might just think yourself to be up in the Far North.

This year, the Xmass Market will be so much bigger.
Over 120 chalets and stallholders will adorn the city centre’s street, starting at the St Bavo Cathedral, over the Botermarkt, the Gouden Leeuw square, Klein Turkije, all the way to the edge of the Korenmarkt.
We are honoured to welcome over 40 international participants, presenting you with local specialties from their home countries.
Of course, the well-known favourites of every year will also set up their stalls laden with festive delights.

On the St Bavo square, right in front of the cathedral’s entrance, you can take your seat for a magical ride on the big Ferris Wheel.
At the top, 43 meters above ground, you will enjoy a phenomenal view of the Ghent city centre.

The whole Winterfeesten area, and all of the city’s squares, will bathe in the atmosphere of the Far North.
Just imagine the smell of pine, lots of green, cosiness, northern lights, elands, chalets, homeliness, that certain glow...
Everyone will feel welcome, and have a joyous time with family and friends.
Come by, it’s the season to be jolly!
